To cultivate and nurture Research Temperament in the college
To encourage pursuit of innovative and creative ideas
To promote collaborative activities with external agencies so as to facilitate creation and transfer of knowledge
To develop the teachers’ professional excellence by providing financial support for Minor Research Projects
To enhance the scientific research facilities available for rural students
3. The Context:
The lack of research facilities has always been a hurdle in the cultivation of research temperament among the students from the rural areas. Our intention is to bridge this gap between the research enthusiasts and the availability of research facilities.
To extend financial support to researchers who suffer from the lack of funds while taking up research projects.
To tackle the need of the changing times by providing well-equipped laboratory facilities
To create professionally qualified human resources for the advancement of the society
To facilitate the updated knowledge in research areas to the researchers by organizing guest lectures, seminars and guidance programs by experts
4. The Practice:
The college has constituted ‘Research Committee’ for creation and transfer of knowledge
There are various committees that work together to nurture research temperament
Faculty Research:
Providing seed money to the research projects by faculty
Tapping research funding from other agencies to promote undertaking research projects
Encouraging the teachers for research publication
Establishing Collaborative activities, MoUs and linkages which are also the initiatives for creation and transfer of knowledge
Student Research:
Annual State level science exhibitions, state level research project writing, surveys, field projects, local history writing, history museum and short term courses are regularly arranged in the campus
Expert lectures on research, innovations, industrial needs, intellectual property rights workshops etc. are regularly arranged in the campus
The college has also established a local chapter of SWAYAM for students and teachers
Uniqueness of the Practice:
Only college to emphasis on research by students.
Only college with the record of five patents
Seed money provided to faculty members for research
5. Evidence of Success:
5 patents have been filed and sanctioned to our teaching faculty members
3 research projects have been completed by our teachers and another 5 are ongoing in the last five years
Several field projects have been completed by our students
12 projects have been completed by our students
192 students participated in manuscript writing
63 books and chapters in books have been published by our teaching faculties
226 research papers have been published by our teaching faculties in UGC approved/care listed journals in the last five years
6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required:
The lack of financial resources has been the most important problem in the implementation of this practice.
