Department of Physical Education & sports

Shivaji Arts, commerce & science College established in 1972. The Sports department was also started in same time and started catering Physical Education and sports facility to all college students. Junior college wing was started in 1975.

We have indoor facility for Table Tennis, Judo, fencing, wrestling, Boxing, Badminton & a Multi gym. All necessary Sports related equipments are available. We have a Ground like Volleyball, Basketball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Ball badminton and also we have 400 mtr. Running Jogging track, and sample area to conduct Athletics events. We are specialized in fencing and softball Sports. We have all fencing equipments which is one and only of its kind in the district. We always give proper Training and coaching various games according to the Competitions and maintain Standard safety measures required for specific sport or event.

Main Aim of Department not only to participate & win a competition but also develop overall personality, a good citizenship and fitness. We encourage the students to take part in Sports activities and competitions. We have schedule for practice in various games and all sports equipment given by sports department. We always maintain the Sports Issue Register, Stock register, Inward outward, Student enrollment data register, and attendance of players. During the Competition College provides equipment and Sports Kits (T-shirts& shorts). Many times the boys & girls is ready to play but opposed from the family, at such condition we personally meet the parents & have a talk with them , explain them that college is going to take the responsibility & personal care of every participants . College provides full security to them in all conditions. College offer special platform to selected students and give them an opportunity to participate in all the tournaments organized by different Institution and different places. For that purpose college authority makes Sports committee to look sports affairs and smooth conduct of sports. In such cases college bear all the related expenses (food, Accommodation, traveling etc.)

From our college those students who have achieved positions, prizes & medals in competitions, department publishes the News in News Papers by felicitated by college. That effect gives maximum students to take part in SPORTS. Every year College meritorious sportsmen are given Mementos, Blazer, and certificates on Annual social Gathering function, by the hands of special guest.

One large ground, referred to as the main ground (ground no.1) and a relatively smaller ground (ground no. 2) are situated on the western side of the campus at the base of the Shivaji College hill.

Fencing

1.Training Programme

Apart from the traditional Indian sports, we are trying to make competent our students in International foreign games. We had arranged coaching and practice session on softball, fencing etc. These practice session make confident the rural students. In these games, they dare to compete with urban sportspersons.

Fencing is an Olympic game. Fencing has needed imported electronic apparatus for practicing. Our college has provided all equipments and we are always topper and winner of intercollegiate fencing championship from last four years.

2. Badminton

Two badminton halls are available for the students. One is situated in the ladies hostel exclusively for girls and the other is in a hall near the college canteen, which is open to all students. Both these halls have been renovated recently.

3. Table Tennis

Three tables are provided for the students.

4. Wrestling and Judo

Mats are provided for wrestling and judo in the gymnasium building.

5. Carrom and Chess

Boards for these games are provided to students in the badminton hall.

6. Yoga

Yoga is practiced in the hall adjacent to the gymnasium. The gymkhana also provides funds and facilities for cultural activities of the students. The college also makes available its grounds and sports facilities for tournaments conducted by the University, Zilla Parishad and NGOs / social organizations.
